Strickland Announces Support For Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, Declassification Of Relevant 9/11 Report Pages

Date: April 27, 2016
Location: Columbus, OH

Today Ted Strickland issued the following statement announcing his support for the "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act" (JASTA), which would allow the victims of 9/11 to sue Saudi Arabia or other foreign state sponsors of terrorism for any role state officials played in the terrorism attack. Strickland is also calling for the declassification of 28 secret pages from the 9/11 congressional inquiry, potentially detailing Saudi connections to the attackers.

"Recent reports have highlighted a serious potential connection between Saudi Arabia and the horrific 9/11 attacks. The families of the victims of 9/11 have every right to seek long overdue justice against those responsible for the attack. And the American people have the right to know the unvarnished truth about what role Saudi Arabia may have played in the worst terrorist attack in the history of our nation. This is about truth and fairness for the victims, their families and for our entire country. I will be proud to support this bill in the U.S. Senate, and would urge the swift declassification of the relevant sections of the 9/11 report."
